Trees of Joy

Trees of Joy is a magical holiday event known for its tradition of customizing and revealing beautifully decorated holiday trees for wish kids and their families. Supporters are invited to sponsor a tree for $10,000. Each sponsor is then paired with a wish child to customize a special holiday tree, bringing each child’s vision to life. The trees are unveiled at an invitation-only, in-person event where donors meet their wish kids and their families, hear their stories of courage and the impact of their wish, and celebrate the joy of the season. Following the event, the trees are delivered to each wish family’s home for them to enjoy over the holidays.

Since its inception in Toronto in 2016 with just eight trees, Trees of Joy has grown significantly, expanding to several locations nationwide, spreading holiday cheer and support Make-A-Wish Canada’s mission to grant wishes for children facing critical illnesses.

Since 2010, Rob’s Drywall has played a vital role in granting wishes for critically ill children in our community. Over the last 14 years, Rob’s Drywall has given a portion of each and every job, resulting in over $111,000 donated to the Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta Chapter (and Children’s Wish Foundation prior to the merge of both organizations in 2018). Through donations, we have granted life-changing wishes to 11 families in Southern Alberta.

Beyond wish granting, Rob’s Drywall has been the number one supporter of a local event called Trees of Joy. This event gifts wish families a spectacular and personalized Christmas tree during the holiday season. These trees are unveiled in a festive celebration and delivered to the homes of local wish families for them to cherish for years to come.

A wish is much more than a nice to have. It is an essential component of a child’s treatment journey. Whether visiting a theme park or riding the range, kids find in their wish a chance to forget their medical burdens. Embracing their once-in-a-lifetime wish sparks a renewed determination and strength for them and their family.

A child is diagnosed with a critical illness every 20 minutes. With three new children facing critical illnesses each and every hour, Make-A-Wish’s need for donations is continuous. Throughout all the uncertainty of a medical journey, one thing has remained constant: every child’s wish begins with hope. When a wish child has something to look forward to, everything begins to change.

Thank you, Rob’s Drywall, for your support of wishes! Mike, Marcy and the entire team have provided so many families in our community with the most precious gift: hope, time together, and memories that will last a lifetime. We are so grateful for their dedication to the mission. We can not do what we do without the support of people like you.
